My music career started with lessons at the age of 11. At the age of 14 some friends and I started a band. At a Battle of the Bands we came in second to a band called the "Sunliners". Small world!!
I taught guitar at age 18 and at 19 played on my first recording session, a song by the Capitols called "Cool Jerk". Over the next few years I played on most of the recordings coming out of Detroit, including some of the Motown hits and the Motown Review at the Fox Theater.
I was part of many projects at Terra Schirma Studio with Russ and Ralph Terrana who had been members of the "Sunliners". There they are again.
These are a few of the artists whose records I played on: Funkadelic, Smokey Robinson, Carla Thomas, Freda Payne, Taka Boom, Dennis Coffey, Chairman of the Board, Honey Cone, Flaming Embers, Mavis Staples, Fantistic Four, The Temptations, The O'Jays, The Dramatics, Ben E. King, and 100 Proof (Aged in Soul).
I was also performing as a musician for the stage muscial "Hair" during it's Detroit run along with Bob Babbitt and Mark Olson (who later became keyboardist for Rare Earth).
In 1971 I left the studio scene and joined Rare Earth. At this time I am touring with "Rare Earth" and doing shows with Motown's "Funk Brothers".
